Gambaro & Tagliapietra Glass Company is one of the most wondeful makers of artistic glass objects in Venice. Although chandeliers get all the attention, smaller objects represent some of the most famous of the Murano Glass creations. They are the masterpieces of traditional craftsmanship—bowls, vases, plates, animals, candleholders, table lamps, carafes, drinking glasses, and sculptures.
Gambaro & Tagliapietra have not only worked to enhance traditional Murano Glass techniques but also developed new ones to make exquisite modern objects. Contemporary and simple creations are made with a combination of traditional techniques such as the ‘murrine’ or the ‘gold leaf’, in contrast to classic shapes in pastel colors with the ‘scavo’ techinique, or the simultaneous use of both gold and silver leaf on a black glass, and also ‘incalmo’, ‘baloton’ and ‘sommerso’.
The production is done with the primary intent of changing and renewing in a unique and different way. The master Matteo Tagliapietra, is always looking for new forms and combinations, and aims to continue the history of about 50 years with an innovative spirit and endless passion. Every piece is expertly made by hand, and authenticated with an engraving of master Matteo Tagliapietra’s signature. It comes with a warranty certificate (and sticker) that gives details of its quality and origin.
Gambaro & Tagliapietra Srl is associated with the Consorzio Promovetro, which works with leading artisan companies who are specialized in traditional handmade production, and who respect the standards of high quality Murano Glass. It is also a licensee of the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark (code #022), given by the Regione del Veneto to the glass factories of the island of Murano only.
